CELIA OKON

Celia Okon was born in Portugal, being the fruit of a Portuguese and African family, with Nigerian and Guinean roots from Equatorial Guinea. She was raised in Madrid, a wonderful city as she puts it, with a wide range of possibilities.

She defines herself as a mother, artist, tireless student, healer, daughter, lover.
A versatile artist who doesn’t limit herself. She feels that her job is to communicate, through the arts. Using music as a medium and voice as a tool, being a singer and songwriter, as a broadcaster, as a dubbing actress in movies and in advertising. Physical expression also defines her steps, using theatre and contemporary dance.

Celia’s soul from a distance is a beautiful one and her emotionality is perceived in the tone of her voice. Her identity modulates towards another manifestation of Blackness, her femininity is as delicate as a poem portrayed in a painting that captures every minute detail. The path of introspection she has embarked on through art and body expression, allows her to connect with herself from the genuine, discovering her hidden parts, which in turn connects her with the other.
She also inspires peace and projects generosity of the heart.
